Dynamic Duo: Two New Heat Styling Tools!
You might remember seeing this curling iron on my Fall Wish List. Well, I finally bought it a little while back and I have to say I'm loving it. The first time I tried it I had a pit in my stomach and I was like Oh God, I've made a huge mistake. It took a whole minute getting used to not having a spring in the handle. But honestly, now I basically love it. I went back and forth on whether to get the 1 inch or 3/4 inch barrel and I'm so glad I went with the 3/4 inch. I can still get the same loosish curls I was getting with my 1 inch by using bigger pieces, but I can also do tighter curls and wear them for a few days and let them get looser each day or brush them out into beautiful, lasting waves. Seriously, the week of my first thesis draft, I didn't shower for five days I was so busy. And my hair looked fabulous the whole time. Thanks to this curling iron and some dry shampoo.
The real reason I finally got around to ordering my curling iron is that I went to blow dry my bangs one night and I noticed there was a crack in the barrel of my trusty old Revlon blow dryer. I've looked at blow dryers here and there over the past couple of years, but never felt like investing in a fancy one and lately I've been air drying more so I wasn't planning to buy a new one. But then the crack happened, and I wasn't sure it was safe to continue using it, so I decided to take the opportunity to order a new blow dryer and a new curling iron. I had an Amazon gift card, so I hopped on, briefly shopped around, and chose this blow dryer. I haven't used it a ton, but the times I've used it I've definitely noticed a faster dry time. Also, the strength of the air flow is crazy! I have found the downside of this is that if you have textured hair like mine it will all try to tangle on your while it's whipping around, but if you take the time to brush as you blow dry, or just give it a good de-tangle afterward, you're good to go. I absolutely hate blow drying my hair, so the quicker I can get it done, the happier I am.
What styling tools have you been loving lately?
Yours Truly, Jen
P.S. Would you guys be interested in a hair tutorial for the curling iron? I've considered doing one, but I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested in another blogger hair tutorial. If you are, let me know!
