You Will Find A Way

Hey, remember my fall wish list? Remember that gorgeous pair of boots, and I was like, I really want these but they just cost a little too much? Well, I was looking longingly at them again this morning and I thought, well let me check how much in rewards I have from my Banana Republic card (Which also works with Gap, Old Navy, and Piperlime)(Yes, I have a store card, which I realize is generally considered a big no-no. Listen, I was young and foolish when I signed up but the rewards are pretty good and I only use it on clothing purchases. And I always pay it off at the end of the month. Store cards are really only bad because of their high interest rates, but if you pay them off at the end of the month that's not an issue. Geez, quit judging me), and saw that I had thirty dollars. I also saw an advertisement while on that screen for a 15% off discount code for Piperlime for people with a store card. So I thought, well let me just see how much I can get these boots for if I put in this discount code and these rewards certificates (I love how Piperlime lets you enter multiple rewards and discount codes. Most places suck and don't let you do that). Well, the discount code took off 25 dollars, and then with the 30 dollars in rewards certificates my price came down to just under 120 after tax. 120 sounds a lot more do-able than 170! So I did what any reasonable human being would do and ordered them immediately. They're available in my size, which is somewhat rare seeing as I have the most common women's shoe size in the world it seems like, they have a larger calf circumference which is necessary for me, it's a tall shaft boot, and the color looks gorgeous. Of course I might get them and find them to be really uncomfortable or bunchy around the ankle or something, in which I will return them for free and totally let you know not to run out and buy them. There weren't any reviews available yet which was the only thing I didn't like about them, but I decided to take a gamble on them. As soon as I get them I'll try them on and let you know what I think!

This point of this whole story is not to brag or talk specifically about these shoes again (although, why not, right?), but to say that if you want/need/wish for something, or to do something, or to take a trip, or to get a certain job, or whatever it may be, you will find a way. Get creative, scrimp, save, increase your income, get experience, try and fail and try again, shop around, put yourself out there, and seize an opportunity when it stares you in the face. You're brilliant, and you will find a way. And that's all I wanted to say today.

Yours Truly, Jen

UPDATE
Ya'll, I can be an idiot sometimes. I was all excited to find and use that 15% off code, and then as I was going through some old mail sitting on my desk I realized I have a 20% off sitewide coupon that expires on the 21st. I immediately called up Piperlime and told them about it and the customer service woman applied the extra 5 percent discount to my order without any muss or fuss so I actually got these boots for $110.77. This post is definitely not sponsored by Piperlime, but they should pay me to talk about them because that might have been the most painless customer service call I've ever made and I will probably tell everyone I know about it. I should really just change the title of this post to Piperlime is Awesome because that's kind of what this has turned into. Oh well.

P.S. This 20% off code can be used by three more people, so if you plan to order something from Piperlime by Saturday I will totally give you this code. First three people to email me will get it (email button in right bar).

  2. I seriously lived in my cognac boots last year, which is why they are now kaput. I will cry if there is something wrong with these, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Also, I have totally meant to do outfit posts two or three times, and I always realize that I never did it after I've undressed for the day or right as I'm running out the door. Also, I need to figure out how the timer works on my camera. Someday soon, it will happen.
